The vineyards on the site of Domaine de la Pinte in Arbois have a long pre-phylloxera vine growing history. But it was in the 1950s that the modern age began, and Domaine de La Pinte was started.
The History
The Domaine de la Pinte estate is 34 ha of vines planted on the terroirs of Arbois and Pupillin, enhanced by the blue marls of the lias which profile from Arbois to Château Chalon, at an altitude of 400 meters.
The Philosophy
Domaine de la Pinte has practiced Organic agriculture since 1999 and began converting to Biodynamics in 2009. Their Biodynamic practices limits the Domaine’s need to use any kind of selected yeasts or enzymes – as the vineyard’s healthy microbiome allows indigenous yeasts to flourish on the vines. The use of sulphur is also extremely limited in the cellar, as the wines are kept on fine lees throughout ageing, largely protecting them from negative bacterial growth.
They currently grow 34ha of vines including 17 of Savagnin, 6 of Chardonnay, 7 of Plousard, 4 of Trousseau and a small amount of Pinot Noir.
