The history of the Fattoria dates back to 1700 when it was founded by the noble Florentine family Peruzzi. In 1800 it was passed to the Marquis Strozzi Sacrati of Mantua and finally in 1978 to the current owners, the Lottero brothers.

The History

The history of the Fattoria dates back to 1700 when it was founded by the noble Florentine family Peruzzi. In 1800 it was passed to the Marquis Strozzi Sacrati of Mantua and finally in 1978 to the current owners, the Lottero brothers.

The Fattoria Lavacchio is situated on top of the hill of Montefiesole at an altitude of 450m, only 18km from florence. It was the first of its size (some 120ha) to adhere to organic and biodynamic agriculture.

The Philosophy

Fattoria Lavacchio's vineyard plots are located at an altitude of between 400 and 450m above sea level, with south and south-east or north, north-east exposure.

Since the vineyard is the central focus of the farm's production, particular attention is paid to its management. The vines are cared for organically with some biodynamic principles being employed throughout. Yields are low and all fruit is harvested by hand.

All wines are the product of spontaneous fermentations and the use of sulphur in the cellar is extremely low.
