One of Italy's winemaking stars
Gian Luca Colombo is part scientist, part farmer, and fully devoted to capturing the essence of every vintage of Piedmont.
Growing up in the Langhe and trained at Alba’s enology school, Colombo began his career as a consultant to many of the region’s respected estates. In 2011 he launched his own project under his name, building a patchwork of small vineyards across Barolo and the surrounding Langhe.
In 2014 he earned the Giulio Gambelli Prize — Italy’s top award for young winemakers — a recognition of his meticulous viticulture and emerging voice.

Neo-Classical Piedmont
What Columbo has become known for is a ‘neo-classical’ Piedmont style: wines of energy rather than force or overt power.
He farms biodynamically and organically, rejects formulaic ‘house styles’ and treats each vineyard and vintage as unique. Fermentations proceed with native yeasts, macerations vary by year, and aging happens in large neutral Austrian casks or non-invasive vessels. He's never in search of oak character, but of purity and a true reflection of his home.
Nebbiolo, Barbera, Pinot Nero, Dolcetto, Pelaverga — all are handled with the same gentle approach. Each bottle is stamped with his personal fingerprint.
