The History

The Harteneck family has been making wine since 1847 (previously in the Pfalz region of Germany). Since 1997 they have been situated in Schliengen, a very sunny area in Baden, close to Alsace. They picked the place for its mild climate and soil – mainly loess and loam, which are perfect for achieving ideal balance in the wines. They own approximately 10 hectares of vineyards all farmed biodynamically.

The Philosophy

Thomas and his team rely on over twenty years of experience adhering to biodynamic viticulture. They work with nature and according to Demeter's protocols. The wines in the Natural / Orange category are hand-picked and fermented with vineyard-specific yeasts. They are not fined or filtered and do not contain any sulphur. Only fermented grape juice is in the bottle. Each wine is unique and true to the vintage and varietal.
