The History

Like many vintners we speak to, Robert Sinskey didn’t exactly plan to dedicate his life to making wine. In the '80s after attending art school and pursuing photojournalism he was called back home to Napa Valley to assist his father with the struggling family vineyard. Robert suggested to his father that they try their hands at making wine rather than just selling grapes. He vowed to keep his stay to 6 months, just enough time to build the winery and hire someone else to run it...and then he met Pinot Noir. Funny how that tends to happen.

32 years later, Robert is still at the winery and has since been joined by his wife Maria and winemaking Jeff Virnig.



The Philosophy

RSV's point of view when it comes to wine is comprised of these rules: 

- Fine wine should have a sense of place

- Know your vineyards

- Working by hand when it matters, matters

- Fine wine shouldn't hurt your palate, or the planet

- Work with, not against, the efficiencies of nature

- Everything is interconnected

- A Biodiverse vineyard is a healthy vineyard

- Barrels should support the wine, not dominate it

- A fine wine is an honest wine


Every wine and every vine is CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) certified organic and their approach in the cellar remains unadulterated.
