2023 Riesling Marienburg Spätlese VDP Grosse Lage

biodynamic Spätlese from one of the Mosel’s most iconic hillside vineyards. The Marienburg site, overlooking the village of Pünderich, is a steep, south to southwest facing slope composed of the region’s full spectrum of slate types, from blue to grey to red iron rich parcels. 

Farmed biodynamically since the early 2000s, the vines are hand tended on extreme slopes and harvested selectively in multiple passes to capture perfect physiological ripeness. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts, carried out slowly in traditional large Stückfass, and the wine rests on fine lees to build textural finesse without sacrificing purity.

Tasting note
The 2023 Spätlese is vibrant and filigreed, showing crystalline flavours of white peach, lime, apple blossom and wet slate. The natural sweetness is finely balanced by electric acidity, giving the wine lift, tension and an elegant, long mineral finish.
