In ancient times the farm was divided into two bodies, one called Stoppa, the other Macchiona: a farmhouse located in the middle of old vineyards that are home to the most traditional red varieties of Colli Piacentini.
The 2022 Macchiona is a beautiful blend of Barbera and Bonarda. The grapes are spontaneously fermented and maceration on the skins for 40 days in steel and cement. After ageing in oak, the bottled wine has been cellared for an extended tine before release, and the result is a stunning wine with sweet hints of ripe, jammy red fruit, spicy undertones and oxidative tones. Juicy palate, soft tannic texture and pleasantly mineral.
Give it a quick decant, not too long and pour in big glasses. Sediment may be thick at bottom of the bottle, so pour carefully.
