Grape: 100% Pelaverga Piccolo (Verduno Pelaverga)
Because production in Verduno is tiny and parcels are limited, wines like this remain rare... an intrinsic part of their appeal! From biodynamically farmed vineyards around Verduno and Roddi, this wine was spontaneous fermented, followed by skin contact for 20–30 days. Wine is aged in clay amphora or terracotta for several months. No fining. No filtration.
Pelaverga is typically pale in colour, much like Nebbiolo. The variety is defined by its aromatic profile, led by white pepper, layered with delicate floral notes of rose and lavender, and finished with a subtle touch of spice. The result is a distinctive wine.
On the palate, tannins are smooth and gentle, lighter than those found in Colombo’s Nebbiolo, supported by vibrant acidity and an overall sense of balance. It can be enjoyed slightly chilled, particularly in the summer months.
Gian Luca Colombo recommends pairing his Pelaverga with seafood for an unexpected and rewarding match.
