A blend of Merlot, Blaufrankish and Zweigelt create a thoughtful and elegant, medium bodied red. Like every wine they make, the Heideboden is hand picked, spontaneously fermented, no fining, no filtration. 14 days maceration in stainless steel and wooden fermenters. 24 months expansion in used barriques and wooden fermenters. Then another 18 months in stainless steel before bottling. Cherries and dark berries on the nose with some smokey, herbal notes.
