2020 François de Nicolay Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Region: Burgundy
Pernand-Vergelesses is in the north of the Côte de Beaune and is one of Burgundy's oldest wine villages. The east-facing vineyard "Les Vergelesses" stretches down towards the valley where the soils are also rich in iron and produce structured wines in a somewhat richer and more accessible style. Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented with natural yeast in whole bunches on cement and in open wooden barrels. The wine is then stored on its lees in old 228 litre barrels for 18 months. Bottled without clarification or filtration.
Drink now or in 20 years. Drink anytime really. Just - don't forget to drink this gem.
