2023 Occhipinti Il Frappato

Il Frappato is Arianna Occhipinti’s most emblematic red, capturing the wild, aromatic and deeply expressive character of Vittoria’s Frappato grape.

The 2023 vintage comes from organically and biodynamically farmed estate vineyards at about 280 meters elevation, rooted in Vittoria’s famed red sand over limestone soils, resulting in an unmistakable lift, minerality and delicate floral aromatics.

Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts. Maceration is long but gentle to preserve fine tannins and aromatic detail. The wine then ages for around 14 months in large Slavonian oak casks, gaining texture and composure without any overt wood influence. Bottled unfiltered and with minimal sulphur, Il Frappato reflects Arianna’s low intervention philosophy.

Tasting note
Bright, perfumed and elegant with aromas of sour cherry, pomegranate, rose petal, blood orange and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is silky and vibrant, carried by delicate tannins, lively acidity and a long mineral finish.
