Chantal Lescure Volnay is from 50+ year-old vines on sandy clay soils over limestone. Fermentation is with wild yeasts followed by 18 months in barrel, approximately 20% of which are new (500L), bottled without fining or filtration. The wine shows a bright deep red/garnet colour with black cherry, blackberry, and red currant aromas. On the palate there's a round, velvety texture backed by firm acidity. Flavours of violet, plum, and cherry with mint, bitter chocolate and earth. Delicious now (decant if possible), and will really sing in three to five years (or until 2032+).
