This wine is a part of The Hidden Treasures series from Roland Velich of Moric highlights singular vineyards and traditional growers across Hungary.
The 2021 Moric NR.3 Balaton is a Hungarian white wine, a 50/50 blend of Riesling and Furmint, from a collaboration between Moric and Villa Tolnay. It's described as elegant and mineral-driven, with aromas and flavors of stone fruit, citrus, and a salty minerality. The wine is a result of a "Hidden Treasures" project focusing on indigenous grapes from specific Hungarian terroirs, with this vintage being from the volcanic soils around Lake Balaton.
Tasting note: Bright and linear with notes of citrus peel, green orchard fruit, white flowers and a volcanic mineral edge. The palate is taut and finely textured, showing energy, salinity and a long, precise finish.
