A blend of 40% Nebbiolo and 40% Croatina with 10 other indigenous grapes from 80-100 year old vines making up the difference of the blend. Vines are trained in the "Maggiorina" system (a vine is planted and surrounded by 4 stakes which new growth is then tied to to form a sort of pergola system), hence the name. From high altitude vineyards between 400m and 450m, south facing slopes, and volcanic soil. Nothing added but minimal amounts of sulphur. Notes of red berries, flowers, pepper, tobacco, smoke and spice. Framed by smooth tannins and fresh acidity.
